Top – Italian alpine spruce from the Val di Fiemme, known as the “Forest of Stradivari,”
as he sourced all of his top wood there in that forest in the Italian Alps.
Back and Sides – Pomele Sapele, highly figured wood from Africa. The sides are triple laminated. There is a normal thickness sapele side on the outside with a layer of maple veneer on the inside printed with an original design, and a layer of padauk veneer sandwiched in between the two. The weight and stiffness of the sides improves the stability and sound of the instrument. The back is one piece with no glue joint in the center. It is an active back, vibrating as one piece. One piece backs are very rare.
Neck – The neck is a seven piece Honduran mahogany laminate. The splitting and regluing of the pieces into a laminate makes for a much more stable neck. It has a two way truss rod, and is carbon fiber re-enforced beyond the twelfth fret. It is a 25” scale. The fingerboard is Royal Blackwood. The abalone truss rod cover is magnetic. The tuners are smooth as silk Graphtech Ratio open back tuners.
Special features – The guitar features abalone purfling on the top of the guitar, and an original design abalone Celtic horse rosette. We think the Celtic spiral in abalone at the end of the fingerboard is a nice touch. The guitar sports a rear access panel for easy interior access or viewing. Best of all, like all Lame Horse guitars, the playing action is easily adjusted on the fly under full string tension.
The guitar comes in a beautiful Marco Magi, faux leather covered, custom fitted, flight case, embroidered with the Lame Horse Guitars logo.
This instrument has already had its frets fine tuned on the PLEK machine, and plays fantastic!
